Web Dev Intern

Working at PearlLemon has been revolutionary for me. I work as a Web Developer
Intern and commenced work on 01-Jan-2025, this has been an eye-opening
opportunity for me since I have been thinking a lot about remote work lately. Lets
face it, the so-called “workplace environment” has changed since the pandemic, let
alone the incredibly rapidly growing digital world that is upon us, and that sets in
motion a systematic change.

Working at the comfort of your own is rather more challenging than having to be in a
building which would be referred to as “an office” where one is surrounded by
colleagues, employers, and/or stakeholders whom one can rely on to physically aid
in tasks which one would require some clarification on. It is indeed helpful to be in
such an environment as it limits the number of issues faced, however, working at
home does have its benefits depending on the structure and organisation.

PearlLemon makes working remotely feel non-problematic to its employees, they
have a structure and approach to working remotely that accommodates anyone –
whether you have worked remotely before or never at all, especially entry-level
incumbents.

Communication is a priority and all methods of communication are fully engaged and
put in place at Pearl Lemon, all employees are encouraged to help new employees
settle in with patience and proper direction as to what and where they should do in
order to make this entire process of working remotely feasible. Back to back
communication in issues, progress and tasks happens 24/7 everyday, from
questions to notices all this happens digitally between the employer and employees,
encouraging employees to be active in discussion and/or meetings is what makes
pearl lemon accommodating and frankly a great place for one to be.

At Pearl Lemon we are all treated with respect and one’s opinions on one thing or
another are not taken lightly, rather with careful consideration and should the opinion play a vital role if any, the employee in question will be fully credited for their work
and others encouraged to notice such employees.

As a Web Developer Intern, I found that my Web Developer team has been there for
me since the beginning. They have all played a part into shaping the skills I have
now acquired from working with them for the past month and never have they
obscured any information from me – critical or not. All information is communicated
effectively and clearly during meetings, through videos conducted on some of the
platforms that contribute to the success of Pearl Lemon’s remote work structure.
Should an employee in another department face an issue, other employees from
various departments will step in and offer to carry the tasks themselves if not assist
the employee facing issues in resolving those issues.

Being a part of Pearl Lemon will teach one how to adapt to changes to become
capable and effective not only in their work but also in their contributions to others.
One has to be willing and possess a tremendous thirst for learning because Pearl
Lemon is a great learning platform, not only are you an employee, but you are also a
learner willing to go extra miles here and there to be able to gain a new perspective
into the workplace and be knowledgeable about the company and all its related
fields/services.

The continual learning culture at PearlLemon is what makes it an even better
platform for development. The organization wants you to develop professionally and
learn more about the field as a whole, not merely perform your duties. PearlLemon

The journey is not always that easy when starting a new job, so I had help, my team
manager helped me settle in and the whole Web Dev team was welcoming and
rather inclined on providing me with the necessary information adequate for me to
put my best foot forward and commence with my tasks.

Being a Web Developer at Pearl Lemon has taught me a lot about communication, tasks prioritization, and development with WordPress, which in this case happens to be one of the key role players in Web Development at PearlLemon.

Pages can be developed, integrated and uploaded to users faster, and for me to be
part of the team contributing to such websites that meet with users’ eyes and have to
offer an appealing user interface means a lot to me.

From day one, I felt like I was part of a family, not just an intern. The support I’ve received from every team across departments has been exceptional. Whether it was getting help from the design team, collaborating with the marketing department, or learning from the senior developers, everyone has always been approachable, understanding, and willing to share their knowledge.

One of the most impressive aspects of my journey here has been the team’s
constant availability. No matter the time of day, there’s always someone to turn to for
help or guidance. This availability has been especially valuable as I work through
complex problems, and the fact that Pearl Lemon prioritizes providing support across
all time-zones means that I never felt isolated or left in the dark. Whether it’s a quick
question on WhatsApp or needing a detailed explanation, the teams are incredibly
