About Bahati Mulishi Experience!

My name is Bahati Mulishi, and I joined Pearl Lemon on April 21st, 2025, as a Stock Trading Intern. From the beginning, I knew this opportunity would expose me to new experiences, but I never imagined just how diverse and transformative my journey would become. During my time at Pearl Lemon, I not only learned the inner workings of the financial world but also took an unexpected yet exciting turn into Human Resources. This internship has been one of the most enriching experiences in my career path so far.
Starting as a Stock Trading Intern
When I first joined the team, I was assigned to the stock trading department. My main responsibilities involved researching airdrops, analyzing market trends, and watching forex-related videos to build my understanding of trading strategies. I worked under the guidance of Ariyan, who was incredibly supportive and thorough in his feedback. Each week, I was given research tasks and video assignments, which helped improve both my analytical thinking and attention to detail.
Though I had a deep interest in the financial world, I started to realize that I enjoyed the team-oriented tasks more than the solitary nature of stock research. Nevertheless, this first phase of my internship taught me discipline, the importance of self-learning, and how to report progress efficiently in a remote work environment.
Transitioning to Human Resources
On May 15th, 2025, my internship took a surprising turn when I was moved to the HR department. At first, the change was unexpected, but I embraced the new challenge with enthusiasm. I initially reported to Eunice, the Head of HR. When she left the company in May, I began reporting to Matilda and later collaborated closely with Cydney and Bushra. Eventually, I came under the direct supervision of Themi, the Operations Director and Bushra.
My daily responsibilities shifted dramatically. I began by posting jobs on different job placement platforms, sourcing candidates through our HR and Paperform submissions, and screening applicants. Once I identified promising candidates, I would send their Loom introductions to Themi for review. If approved, I’d move forward with onboarding.
The onboarding process involved several key tasks: creating caricatures and professional email signatures, drafting offer letters and NDAs, and making sure all signed documents were organized and stored properly in Google Drive. I also kept Themi and Bushra updated during each stage to ensure a smooth onboarding experience. Working in HR helped me refine my communication and organizational skills. It also gave me hands-on experience with the recruitment lifecycle, which I now find incredibly rewarding.
A Surprise Review
At one point during my internship, I was unexpectedly invited to a meeting with Themi and Deepak. They asked me about my experience, what I had been working on, and how I felt about my time at Pearl Lemon. I now believe this was my performance review. While it wasn’t formally scheduled, the meeting gave me a chance to reflect on my growth and to feel acknowledged for my contributions.
Personal and Professional Growth
My time at Pearl Lemon has helped me grow immensely, both professionally and personally. I have improved my time management, become more confident in taking initiative, and learned to work independently while still being part of a collaborative team. One of the biggest skills I’ve developed is adaptability — going from a finance role to an HR one might seem unrelated, but it taught me how to learn fast and contribute meaningfully, no matter the task.
Tools like Google Drive, WhatsApp, Loom, and Trackabi have become second nature to me. I’ve also gained a solid understanding of internal operations, team dynamics, and cross-departmental collaboration.
My Advice to Future Interns
If you’re considering a placement with Pearl Lemon, be prepared to learn a lot and wear many hats. Don’t be afraid of change — sometimes, the unexpected shift in your role could lead to discovering a new passion or hidden strength. Always communicate clearly, ask for feedback, and stay organized.
Make sure to take your monthly team member blog posts seriously. They’re not just for tracking your activities but also help you reflect on your own development. Also, don’t forget the importance of completing your testimonial (like this one) and submitting your invoice on time.
Final Thoughts
From researching stocks to onboarding HR candidates, my time at Pearl Lemon has been nothing short of transformative. I’ve learned to manage responsibilities across departments, gained practical experience, and found mentors who guided me with patience and encouragement. I’m grateful for the trust the team has placed in me and the lessons I’ll carry forward in my career.
Whether in finance, HR, or another department, Pearl Lemon has something valuable to offer anyone who’s willing to step up, learn, and grow. Thank you for this incredible journey.
