The story started
And in the blink of an eye nearly half a year has flown by!
As a freshly graduated college student searching for opportunities, I feel so fortunate to have stumbled upon Pearl Lemon. Especially during the midst of the coronavirus pandemic…
I recently graduated with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Since then, gaining experience has been the number one priority for me. A full-stack digital marketing partner for a remote digital marketing agency based in London was far from my “plan” after college. But in hindsight, it may have been the best decision I made in order to gain the hands-on experience I was searching for.
Passing classes and receiving a degree in today’s society has almost become normalcy. It is extremely important to differentiate yourself from your peers.
For me, Pearl Lemon helped me do just that.
Kicking my partnership off in May, I was placed in a one week trial period. This was a transitional period where I showcased my aptitude to learn and take on tasks as needed. I quickly learned the basic means of communication and adapted to the fast-paced environment.
Lydia (Head of Growth) was my “go-to” during my onboarding phase. Her constant communication and deep understanding of internal functions helped me tremendously with my growth at Pearl Lemon. Lydia provided me with extremely helpful video/text tutorials breaking down the essentials when getting started.
From useful ad-ons/extensions for efficiency, communication protocols internally/externally, company mindmap showcasing the various sub-companies/branches of Pearl Lemon, time management for remote work, etc.
Nearly all critical concepts and material required were covered! As for those special questions/concerns that fell through the cracks, Lydia was always there to fall back to, quickly answering and clarifying any questions I had.
The initial stages at Pearl Lemon consisted of me experiencing a wide range of assignments and tasks varying from market research, blogs, social media automation, copywriting, and more! This was a critical period as it provided me with a brief introduction to different facets of digital marketing. Through this, I was able to learn, develop new skills, and ultimately formulate a better sense of direction in terms of what I want to focus on.
As time progressed, I had regular meetings with Deepak (CEO and founder). He did an excellent job maintaining flexibility and finding time to have one-on-one meetings with me. We spent this time briefing each other and staying updated. All questions and concerns were clarified, new ideas and proposals were discussed, and, most importantly, he made sure to check in to see if I was okay on a personal level.
Deepak showed us what a relentless work ethic was like while maintaining an interpersonal connection with each and every one of us- something I firmly believe is key to being a strong leader who those want to follow.
After a couple of months I had developed a keen interest in lead generation. I had prior experience managing Facebook campaigns, and I wanted to continue exploring similar areas.
When expressing my interest to Deepak, he began providing me with more work that was catered to my interest. This was a pivotal moment for me as my personal development and interests were heard and acknowledged, which is something very important that not all employers take the time to do.
My discussions with Deepak ultimately led to me taking on both internal and external campaigns for both LinkedIn and email. I honestly felt intimidated at first, but this quickly turned into a sense of excitement. I was ready to get my hands dirty and get the legitimate experience I had been searching for.
During this time, I educated myself with detailed training guides for LinkedIn campaign management, which were provided by the team. I also completed independent, in-depth research on bulk email marketing.
The beauty of this was that I was given the opportunity as an partner to take on such a huge responsibility. I felt like my work and actions actually mattered. Deepak even expressed critical pain points we had and gave me the freedom and creativity to go and figure out a solution. There were moments of failure and frustration, but I was able to learn and grow from them.
Within a span of a week, I found myself managing the entire life cycle of both LinkedIn and email campaigns for clients.
Talk about hands-on experience… before I knew it I was creating tailored copywriting content, setting up automation, handling outreach, recording performance, optimizing, and sending detailed reports to clients.
Through this one-of-a-kind experience, I was able to learn valuable skills and concepts that I am confident will carry onto future roles in digital marketing!

I was heard and acknowledged as an partner. I was given relevant work experience that catered to my wants and needs. I was given the opportunity to showcase my skills by directly handling client campaigns. I was able to make mistakes and learn from them. I was surrounded by hardworking individuals that motivated me to want to be better.
The Full-Stack Digital Marketing Partnership at Pearl Lemon will definitely go down in the books for me as I progress through my career.
