ABOUT Muyiwa's EXPERIENCE!

In late December 2023, as the year was wrapping up, I was also nearing the end of my fourth month at Pearl Lemon Group. It’s amazing to reflect on how much I’ve grown in that time.

Let me introduce myself! My name is Muyiwa Adekojede, and I’m currently working as a Search Engine Optimization Executive here at Pearl Lemon. When I first joined the team back in September, I knew this role held a lot of potential, but I had no idea just how much it would change my perspective. It felt like a fantastic chance to learn and develop my skills, and I dove headfirst into every task I was given, making sure to meet deadlines consistently.

It wasn’t an overnight transformation, of course. There was definitely a learning curve. But as I got more comfortable with the day-to-day work, something really clicked. That’s when I started to connect more closely with my team leads. Those connections became incredibly important for my growth – they provided invaluable guidance and helped me take my understanding of SEO to a whole new level.

The Initial Months:

As the calendar flipped to the second month, I noticed a shift in my workload. It wasn’t just that things were picking up; we also had a new face joining the team! This new teammate brought a fresh perspective and a burst of energy, making the overall atmosphere more dynamic and exciting. But the real highlight for me was the supportive environment our team leaders had fostered.

One person who deserves a special shout-out is Saurav. During that initial learning curve, Saurav went above and beyond to help me out. He patiently explained the intricacies of link building, breaking things down into clear, easy-to-understand steps. Having that kind of guidance made a world of difference, and it solidified my impression of the supportive team spirit we have here.

I Did Overcome Challenges, Proud To Say That:

Throughout my three-month internship, financial constraints became a significant challenge. There were times when I even struggled to afford essential data subscriptions. These subscriptions were crucial for completing my daily tasks and taking the required YouTube autonomy training. Despite this obstacle, I’m happy to share that I discovered ways to optimize my workflow. By streamlining my processes, I was still able to consistently meet the SEO targets set for each month. This experience, while demanding at times, turned out to be a real adventure. It was filled with moments of unexpected insights and exciting discoveries that fueled my personal and professional growth.

My Toughest Was Interning While Schooling:

It sounds like you had a really busy but rewarding time! Juggling two internships at once definitely requires some careful planning.  That’s great that you were able to make it work by scheduling your days out thoroughly. It’s also fantastic that you had mentors like Saurav  and Rayno to support you. Their guidance probably made a big difference in helping you smoothly switch between your school internship duties and your responsibilities at Pearl-Lemon, no matter the time of day.

In fact, it seems like things got even more interesting when you started taking on tasks from both Rayno and Saurav. Since Rayno was working on technical SEO and Saurav was focused on off-page SEO for Pearl-Lemon, this meant you were diving into two completely different areas of SEO at the same time.  So not only were you handling two internships, but you were also doubling down on your SEO learning!  Talk about maximizing your experience!  It’s definitely impressive that you were able to learn both these aspects simultaneously. It sounds like you were definitely making the most of your time – like killing two birds with one stone, just as you said!

Transition to Full-Time:

After I finished my internship, I was thrilled to be able to leverage the valuable knowledge and experience I gained into a full-time, paid position at Pearl Lemon. This wasn’t just any job; it marked a significant milestone in my career path. It was an exciting opportunity to truly delve deeper into the world of SEO, exploring different areas and the tools used by professionals. Throughout this experience, I had the chance to work with both free and premium SEO options. This exposure proved to be incredibly valuable, helping me refine my skills and develop a more commercially-oriented approach to SEO. By working with these various tools, I gained a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to achieve SEO success in a real-world business setting.

I have Become Better at Spreadsheets:

Admittedly, one unexpected perk of this new project was conquering my fear of spreadsheets. Let’s just say, those endless columns used to send shivers down my spine. Every time I saw one, it felt like staring at a complicated puzzle with a million pieces. But this time was different. Watching our team lead navigate them so effortlessly during online meetings sparked a curiosity in me. It was like a lightbulb moment – I realized there had to be valuable tricks and techniques hiding within those rows and columns.  Instead of letting fear hold me back, I decided to use this as an opportunity to improve my skills in data analysis. It turns out, a little exploration can go a long way!

Just Me Embracing Innovation:

Pearl Lemon’s dedication to innovation has been a real inspiration to me. It’s pushed me to think outside the box and embrace new ideas.  Their focus on constant improvement, championed by Deepak’s excellent leadership, has also had a major impact on my approach to work.  By being around such a forward-thinking environment, I’ve been exposed to all sorts of groundbreaking practices. This has completely changed how I see challenges, giving me the confidence to tackle them with a creative and open mind.
