I am absolutely thrilled this week to be taking on greater responsibility with Plantsumo, and will become Head of Content for the brand. Filling my days with sourcing content on plant-based lifestyles is a dream and something I am eager to get stuck into. Asides writing content myself I will finally have the opportunity to edit the work of others, which I’m looking forward to.

It’s exciting to be a part of building the brand from scratch and being involved from the start. I will now be splitting my weeks so that half will be spent on Plantsumo whilst continuing to work on Pearl Lemon content for the remainder of my time.

This week, I want to talk about rituals.

Rituals have become so important to me while working from home and creating a routine for myself.

When each day involves opening my laptop and essentially working from the same spot, I’m finding the little things are what makes my days feel that bit more special.

To start with, I am a true coffee lover. It is, however, a bit of a love-hate relationship between me and caffeine. I’m very sensitive to it, and although it makes me feel GREAT in the morning and super productive it has often led to difficulty with sleeping and switching off at night.

The way around this, however, is that I can replace the actual coffee with decaf or even alternatives I’ve found which taste similar to coffee (yes, I am that person who goes looking for these things in health food shops) and still carry out my ritual in the morning of brewing it in the caffetiere and sitting down at my window to begin writing.

I’ve found the same sort of ‘substitute’ technique has worked with alcohol too. I used to think that I wanted a glass of wine in the evenings, and sometimes it was, but the majority of the time it’s just that I enjoy the elegance of holding a giant wine glass in my hand while having something to sip on.

My solution to this? Buying myself a stylish new glass that I fill with sparkling water and sip on throughout the day. A small thing, but makes me ‘feel’ entirely different.

These little rituals have really made differences to my days working from home, or at least to how I feel throughout the day. Either that or I really have just gone ever so slightly mad during lockdown – I will let you come to your own conclusions on that!
