Hi again all,
I’ve been staying and working at my girlfriend’s house this week. The weather has been FANTASTIC. Not only have I been able to see my girlfriend, but I’ve also been able to see her dog which is always a bonus.
I’ve been having a lot of partnership calls this week. I think I had 5 calls in total. I’m definitely becoming more confident in my communication skills over the phone. This sort of soft skill is useful in any career, so I’m glad to be building my skills in that area. What made this week different was that I was speaking with agency owners who are based in the US. Isn’t it cool how I can consider collaborating with these businesses even though they operate in an entirely different country to mine?
I’ve still been working with Google Analytics and I’m gradually learning more and more about how it works. I’ve been mainly looking at the main Pearl Lemon website and identifying which pages have the highest bounce rates. Bounce rate refers to the percentage of people who click on a page but don’t interact with anything on the page. They don’t spend any time on the page and leave the page straight away. A high bounce rate could suggest the quality of content on the page is low or visitors haven’t found what they’ve been looking for. I’ve been trying to identify why certain pages might have higher bounce rates and what we can do to improve them.
Another task I’ve been working on is creating a video presentation for the rest of the Pearl Lemon team. The aim of the presentation was to teach the team about my method for analysing competitors’ websites. Here’s a sneak peek of the first slide:
The picture is supposed to be Sherlock Holmes. The idea was that he investigates things in the same way that I’ve been investigating websites. It might be a tedious link but I put the image in all the same 🙂
Since it’s been over a month since I started working at Pearl Lemon, I had a performance review call with Deepak. It was great to receive some valuable feedback and I hope to improve in the areas that I’m not as strong in!
See you next week
