Hello everyone!

Welcome to another blog entry made by me. A lot has changed since last week. Remember how I told you that we had gotten into a second Lockdown in the UK? And that I decided to stay at university? Well, a lot has changed since then. Firstly, at the beginning of the week, the Prime Minister said that all university students could go home from the 3rd to the 9th of December. So I booked a train ticket at 7 am on the 5th to go back to London, I even got it for £9! Which is insanely cheap. However, as the week went on, I stopped feeling so great, inimically speaking. I kept trying as the week went on to feel better so that I would stay at university, however, when I’m at university I live by myself, therefore it was quite challenging for my mental health. So, I decided to come back home. If anyone reading this is in a similar situation, please go back home, stay at your friend’s house, stay with family… but don’t ever make yourself go through that by yourself. Even though you might think that you are being weak, that’s not the case, you are working on yourself and that’s always better than those feelings spiralling into something bigger. So, right now I’m writing from my house in London, which is great because when you are at your parents’ house the heating is always on, there are always cool snacks and there is always food in the fridge and warm food on the table. Also, my cat has been a sweetheart since I got home, and it made me release that I missed her way more than I thought. And if you want to see the cutest cat ever here is a picture of her from summer:

On the other hand, in the Pearl Lemon world, my role has changed a lot this past week. I have been doing a lot of lead generation, to say it in a way, that was all I did. First on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I worked on the Tumbellina campaign and then on Thursday I worked on another one, the Avalar campaign. This campaign was my first lead generation campaign with an external client. In the beginning, I was quite scared and very slow. Tasks that should have taken me about an hour, took me about five hours to complete…💀

If you would like to learn about how to start a lead generation campaign, this is how it works:

  1. You read the new client onboarding form and watch the recorded call between the client
  2. Familiarize yourself with the client’s company and what they want to sell
  3. Now you have to optimise the LinkedIn profile that will be used, this so that the new prospects can learn as fast as possible who you are and what you are selling
  4. As soon as you have finished the optimisation you have to start working on the messages sequences
  5. For the LinkedIn sequencing, you have to first write a connection message, a welcome message and a follow-up message
    1. You have to make sure that there is a clear call to action, and that you give enough information to get them interested, without telling to much so that they will want to find out more
    2. And the end goal is always getting the prospect on a call, so always keep that in mind
    3. And also write up three emails follow-ups for when they don’t respond to your LinkedIn messages. These should contain the type of message of “hey we connected on Linkedin and you might prefer talking by email, here is our information, would you like to get on a call soon?”.
  6. For the email sequence, you have to write a first connection email and four follow-ups
    1. In the first email, you have to say the main information, but a very brief pitch message
    2. And keep having in mind that the end-goal is always to get the client on a call, always, so never say too much nor too little
    3. As you write the follow-up emails, you should always call back to the first email and not add further information. The message always has to be a “are you still there”, “did you miss my email” or a “don’t forget about this” kind of message
    4. Something else that you should always add at the end of every email is an add value take-home message of your service. These are short sentences of why they need you and what you will bring to their life.
  7. Finally, you need to send this out for approval to the client, this is the hardest part for me. You have to be very polite but at the same time, you have to be friendly and try to not sound too robotic either.
    1. Pay attention to detail! Do not misspell the client’ name! This happened to me twice and it’s getting pathetic now
    2. Make sure to CC everyone that has to be CCD (also a common mistake that I’ve been making)
    3. Make sure all the links and documents that you are attaching are the right ones.

And well, that’s what my week has been, what I’ve learned and what you should know about how to start a lead generation campaign!

Have a great week and see you again next week,

Isabela 🙂
