About Atif Experience!
When I first joined Pearl Lemon as a web design intern, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I had read a lot about the company’s culture and how it gives real responsibilities to interns, but experiencing it firsthand was completely different. From day one, I realized that this wasn’t going to be a typical internship where you just observe or wait for instructions. I was immediately given tasks, goals, and the freedom to take ownership of my work.
Most of my work at Pearl Lemon has been focused on designing and updating service pages. My job was to review existing pages, find areas that needed improvement, and give them a fresh, professional look. I also worked on updating the written content on those pages to make it more engaging and clear. Once the design and content were ready, I handled publishing everything through WordPress. It was satisfying to see those pages go live and know that my effort had an impact on how the company presented its services.
When I started, I went through the onboarding process and was added to the company’s Microsoft Teams group. That quickly became the place where all communication happened — sharing updates, discussing designs, getting feedback, and keeping track of progress. The team was really supportive and helpful. Even though we all work remotely, it never felt like I was working alone. Whenever I needed help or wanted feedback, someone was always available to guide me.
Designing and updating service pages was one of the most interesting parts of my work. I had to make sure each page looked good visually, loaded fast, and matched Pearl Lemon’s branding. At the same time, I had to think about the user experience — how people would navigate the page and how to make the content easy to read. It taught me how design and marketing go hand in hand. A good design isn’t just about looking nice; it’s about helping users find what they need and encouraging them to take action.
I mostly worked in WordPress using tools like Elementor and Canva for layout and visual elements. These tools gave me flexibility to test different ideas and layouts. Sometimes I would redesign a section completely, and other times I’d make small adjustments that improved clarity and consistency. Through this process, I also learned a lot about SEO — how to structure pages properly and how small design choices can affect how a page performs in search engines.
One thing I really appreciate about Pearl Lemon is the amount of trust they give their interns. You’re not treated like a temporary worker — you’re treated like a real team member. I was encouraged to make suggestions, share my ideas, and take initiative. If something didn’t work, the team gave feedback, not criticism. This open environment made it easy to experiment and learn without fear of making mistakes.
Of course, there were challenges. Working remotely means you have to be very organized and disciplined. There were times when I had multiple design updates due at once, and keeping everything on schedule was tricky. I learned how to manage my time better, plan my day, and stay focused. Communication was another key skill I improved. I started giving regular progress updates and asking for feedback early, which helped me avoid confusion later.
Over time, I noticed real improvement in my design skills and overall confidence. I became more comfortable with WordPress, faster at creating layouts, and more aware of how to make pages both beautiful and functional. I also got better at writing short content sections that matched the tone of the brand. These little improvements added up and made me realize how much I was learning from practical experience.
Another thing that stood out to me was how diverse the team at Pearl Lemon is. People come from all over the world, and yet everyone works together smoothly. It’s inspiring to be part of a global team that shares ideas, respects deadlines, and helps each other grow. Even though we’ve never met in person, there’s a real sense of teamwork.
Looking back on my journey so far, I can honestly say this internship has been a big step in my professional growth. It’s helped me understand what it’s like to work in a real digital agency environment. I’ve learned how projects are managed, how client-facing pages are built, and how every detail — from a button color to a headline — plays a role in creating a great user experience.
Personally, this experience has made me more confident in my skills and more disciplined in my approach to work. I’ve learned that design isn’t just about creativity — it’s about communication, teamwork, and purpose. Every project taught me something new, and every challenge pushed me to improve.
I’m really grateful for the opportunity to be part of Pearl Lemon. The experience has been both challenging and rewarding, and it has motivated me to keep growing as a designer. I’ve gained hands-on skills, met some amazing people, and learned lessons that will stay with me throughout my career. If I had to describe this journey in a few words, I’d say it’s been full of learning, creativity, and growth.
