Let's Hear From Catherine

Catherine Reyes – Executive Assistant, Philippines
Mabuhay! I’m Catherine, and I’m proudly representing the Philippines as part of the Pearl Lemon team!
It’s been two years and seven months since I joined Pearl Lemon in October 2022, and looking back now, I can honestly say that this journey has been both transformative and fulfilling. What started as a remote job opportunity quickly turned into something much more—an environment where I could grow, explore different paths, and connect with people from all over the world. My time here has been filled with learning, new experiences, challenges, and meaningful friendships—and I’m excited to share a glimpse of what working at Pearl Lemon is really like.
When I first came on board, my role was as an Accountability Manager. It was my first exposure to Pearl Lemon’s unique structure and fast-paced culture. As an Accountability Manager, I was in charge of helping team members stay on top of their goals and tasks. That experience taught me so much about communication, responsibility, and staying organized, especially in a fully remote and globally distributed team. Even at that stage, I could already feel the trust that the company puts in its people, and the value placed on ownership and initiative.
After that, I transitioned to the HR team, where I supported hiring and onboarding. This is where I got a deeper sense of how much Pearl Lemon values the people who work here. I saw firsthand how much effort went into making sure the right people were brought into the team, and how those people were given the space to grow and thrive. It was also my first time being involved in improving internal processes, which gave me a new layer of responsibility and a deeper appreciation of what goes on behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly.
As time passed, I found myself naturally gravitating toward work that involved more coordination, communication, and problem-solving—and that led me to my current role as Executive Assistant to Deepak, our founder and CEO. Working directly with Dee has been one of the most intense and educational parts of my journey. He’s someone who expects a lot—he moves quickly, thinks strategically, and pushes for results. There have definitely been tough days, and it hasn’t always been easy to keep up. But here’s the thing: because of that, I’ve grown in ways I never expected.
I’ve learned how to anticipate needs, how to prioritize under pressure, how to communicate clearly and efficiently, and most importantly, how to constantly adapt and improve. Dee pushes you because he believes you can do more, and he gives you the room to prove that to yourself. And even when things get tough, there’s a sense of respect and acknowledgment that makes the effort worth it. I’ve become more confident, more organized, and much better at handling a wide range of tasks—and that’s thanks to the challenges and trust placed in me through this role.
But that’s not all I do at Pearl Lemon. I’m also currently working in the Paid Media department, supporting ad campaigns by creating graphics for Meta ads. I work closely with Ismael, and it’s been such a great experience to be part of a team that focuses on performance, creativity, and results. I’ve been able to build on my design skills while contributing to real campaigns that drive growth for the company and our clients. It’s exciting to see my work used in live ads—and even more rewarding to see those ads perform well.
In addition to that, I’m part of the catering department, where I help source suppliers for various events we’re organizing. I work closely with Axel and Mel in this department and collaborate often with Chill, who’s a key part of both EA and Catering. Our teamwork makes everything run smoother, and even though we’re miles apart and working in different time zones, we manage to stay aligned and productive. This department has its own challenges, but it’s also taught me how to negotiate, research vendors, and manage logistics—all skills I wouldn’t have imagined developing when I first joined.
That’s what’s so special about Pearl Lemon—it’s a place where you can grow in multiple directions. If there’s something you want to try, or if you realize your current role isn’t the right fit anymore, you’re encouraged to speak up. Pearl Lemon actually listens. The team will help you move into roles where you can be happier, more productive, and more aligned with what you truly enjoy. Whether you want to shift from admin to creative work, from project management to marketing, or take on multiple responsibilities like I have—there’s room to explore.
And let’s talk about working with a global team. Our time zones are all over the map—some of us are just waking up while others are about to log off. But somehow, it works. That’s because we all understand the importance of communication, flexibility, and respecting each other’s time. Sometimes you’ll have meetings early in the morning or late at night, but you also get the flexibility to organize your schedule in a way that works for you. It’s a balance, and one that makes you feel trusted and empowered.
Despite being fully remote, the sense of community at Pearl Lemon is strong. I’ve made real, lasting friendships here—people I talk to beyond work, who check in on me, laugh with me during calls, and share milestones in their personal lives. We support each other, share knowledge, and celebrate wins together. You don’t feel like you’re alone behind a screen—you feel like you’re part of something.
There’s also an unspoken culture here that values taking initiative. You’re not micromanaged. If you see a problem, you’re encouraged to solve it. If you have an idea, you’re invited to share it. That trust goes a long way in making you feel valued. It’s not about titles or hierarchy—it’s about contribution. That mindset has helped me become more resourceful, proactive, and confident in the way I approach my work.
Another thing I deeply appreciate is the company’s willingness to let you be human. Life happens. Sometimes you’re not at your best, or you need space to reset. The team gets it. There’s compassion here—real, genuine understanding that goes beyond deadlines and metrics. That kind of culture is rare, and it’s what keeps people like me motivated and loyal.
I’ve seen a lot of people start their Pearl Lemon journey and then evolve—some becoming leaders, others discovering new talents they didn’t know they had. And that’s what Pearl Lemon does best: it brings out your potential. It challenges you, supports you, and celebrates your wins. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m excited for what’s still ahead.
To anyone considering joining Pearl Lemon, here’s what I can say: this is not your average remote job. It’s a fast-paced, constantly evolving, people-first environment where you’ll learn more than you expected, be pushed to do your best work, and find yourself surrounded by passionate, talented individuals who truly care. If you’re willing to put in the work, speak up for yourself, and embrace challenges—you’ll thrive here.
To Pearl Lemon: thank you for the opportunities, the trust, the challenges, and the friendships. Thank you for being a company that believes in growth—not just as a business, but in each of us, personally and professionally. I’m grateful every day to be part of this team.
