My Journey at Pearl Lemon as an Lead Generational Intern at Pearl Lemon
My name is Losika Mabophiwa, a Lead Generation intern at Pearl Lemon. I started on the 15 September 2025. Applying for this position at Pearl Lemon meant me getting out of my comfort zone and taking a risk seeing that I had no experience of being a Lead Generation in my past work experience. It was very scary meeting the team that I am a part of now and having to get used to them. Mainly on my first week I had the grace to meet Harsh, Anirban, Matsood and Devajit as the Lead
Generation team that deals with both internal and external clients and campaigns. I noticed that at Pearl Lemon everyone is big on communication, mainly through Whatsapp where there are different groups for different departments and also for different purposes. As much as Pearl Lemon has mostly remote workers being on time and communication is what keeps the wheel going. With our Lead Gen manager there are mostly team calls held on goggle meetings every morning or once a week to give an update on what you were working on the previous day, go through your task with the team and also be assigned tasks in the morning or sometime during the day. Regarding communication there is a scheduled meeting that takes place every Friday dedicated to the whole team of Pearl Lemon catching up with the CEO Deepuk Shukla that covers all of the updates going on across the different departments, it usually takes place for at least an hour. I had to adapt how to use the tools within Google apps from google meetings, spread sheets, google doc to know how to share information with my team mates and also read information. Also use the google calendar to schedule my work properly like what I am doing at what time or what I did for the day. After 3 weeks of being at Pearl Lemon I had a routine now morning involving meaning with the team then throughout the day carrying out tasks and meeting again for learning sessions. Every day at Pearl Lemon I am learning something new.
To get a feel of what the Lead Generation does everyday at Pearl Lemon, I was given a task to watch videos that show how to carry out different tasks. For instance, there is a sheet that focuses on cold emails like setting up cold email campaigns on platforms like Reachinbox, Mailshake plus knowing what makes a good cold email. Knowing the concepts that surround that copy writing, merge tags, emails connected, knowing the targeted idea customer profile for that industry or that particular campaign we are working on. In the second sheet there is information or videos about learning how to scrape, to exact contact and company information from the Apollo database. Others include Sales Navigator and Apify. On the third sheet there is how to set up linkedin campaigns on Ulinc using different peoples private accounts that are active in LinkedIn.
After watching these videos more than once I then got my first task from the manager. My first task as a Lead Generation intern was setting up a campaign on a platform called Reachinbox. The campaign was Lighthouse since it was my first task and I also had watched videos. I had a learning session before I could tackle this alone. This would include entering the copies, uploading the list, attaching the emails and entering the time zone chosen for that campaign. After successfully setting up a campaign on Reachinbox things started making sense and seeing how every action is important and everyone plays a role to get the bigger picture. From having a client, ideal customer profile, making a list that contains contacts of potential clients, creating 3 step or 4 step cold emails being sent out, and cold calling too so that at the end of these campaigns there are leads and positive outcomes.
Not only are the campaigns for clients but there are internal campaigns or even projects. For instance there is a Catering and events niche that is a part of Pearl Lemon, Pets related campaign where they assist pet owners to transport their pets from point one to point two a fee of course. I get to work with mostly Harsh on the internal side of things. During the week I report the cold email positive and negative responses related to the internal campaigns on the platform Reachinbox, 3 times a day from morning till evening in the internal cold email campaigns. In most cases I forward the positive responses to the allocated email addresses. Sometimes I respond to the potential leads. Still on the internal side of things I record the number of emails, total responses and positive responses Monday to Saturday.
Apart from setting up campaigns I carry out tasks in the property department at Pearl Lemon. I usually receive a criteria for a certain property after going through the next step is to go on to the Rightmove website and enter the key information such as location, price range, distance from the train station, status of the school nearest to the property and the address of the selected property on the sheet. This can take up to 3 hours of property searching if there locations to explore are a few or the price range is limiting then sometimes it takes less time to carry out the property search. Sometimes when the selection of the liked properties was not successful then a second search of the certain criteria. This is one of the tasks that I enjoy doing here at Pearl Lemon as some might find it boring for me its a fun activities that requires a bit of patience and paying attention to certain details.
Apart from the tasks that I carry out as a lead generation intern. I do enjoy the work culture at Pearl Lemon. There is good communication, as well as respect too. There is time for fun and jokes and there is time to be serious and work. We aim to please the clients because if they are not happy with the work that is being put out then it might affect the reputation Pearl Lemon has out there or even worse the client must ask for a refund. And that there is always a team recording for a task you are able to complete and all you have to do is watch and you a set. Visual learning is such a big thing for Pearl Lemon. If you can see someone doing it then you can do it too. Also recording of calls is like the smartest thing ever meaning if a lot of things were mentioned as tasks you have to carry out then you can literally go to Bluedot recording, read the script or watch the video at the important parts. Plus check what one of the team members said without bothering anyone.
It marks 7 weeks of being at Pearl Lemon, of still learning what it takes to be a good Lead Generation member of the team. I now have an understanding of how every department contributes to the digital marketing, and growth of the companies that are in need of the services offered by Pearl Lemon. I’m happy I am at Pearl Lemon learning and growing too. I took a risk and here I am. From being clueless to being able to explain what the lead generation team does is a win. I’m part of a remote team. Hopefully in the future I can secure a position that is more than just a learning intern, but someone who can implement their skills when needed. Taking new challenges is something that I do now and not afraid of making mistakes or even asking for help where I don’t understand.
