From Digital Intern to Sub Head of EMD Web Design
My journey with Pearl Lemon Group began in March 2024 and concluded in May 2026.
During those two years, I progressed through several connected areas of digital work, including social media publishing, WordPress website design, exact-match-domain projects, team coordination, content publishing, and AI automation.
Pearl Lemon gave me an opportunity to learn through practical work and real responsibility. As I developed new skills and demonstrated that I could handle more complex assignments, my responsibilities expanded.
This is my account of that journey, the people who supported me, and the professional lessons I gained from working with Pearl Lemon Group.
How I Joined Pearl Lemon Group
On 29 March 2024, Usman Jatoi informed me that Pearl Lemon Group was looking for website design interns.
I was interested in developing my practical digital skills, so I applied through Pearl Lemon Placements. On 30 March 2024, I began receiving website design assignments on a trial and internship basis under Usman’s guidance.
I officially joined the Pearl Lemon team on 5 April 2024.
The HR team and my colleagues helped me settle into the company’s remote working environment. During this early period, I learned how Pearl Lemon managed tasks, communication, reporting, deadlines, and collaboration across departments.
What started as an internship developed into more than two years of practical professional experience.
Learning Through Practical Responsibility
My first assignments involved WordPress website work, content publishing, service pages, and listicle pages.
These responsibilities allowed me to improve my understanding of:
- WordPress page building
- Website structure and presentation
- Content publishing
- Responsive page design
- Task management
- Internal communication
- Quality control
- Start-of-day and end-of-day reporting
- Cross-department collaboration
Regular feedback from Usman Jatoi, Deepak Shukla, and other team members helped me identify areas where I needed to improve.
The work taught me that designing a page was only one part of the process. Successful delivery also depended on receiving content and creative assets on time, coordinating with other departments, checking quality, communicating problems, and taking responsibility for completing the assignment.
Expanding into Social Media and Content Publishing
During my second month, I was invited to support the social media team while continuing my website responsibilities.
This introduced me to another side of Pearl Lemon’s digital operations.
The team supported content and publishing activities across Pearl Lemon’s portfolio of brands. My responsibilities included assisting with social media tasks, publishing content, communicating with designers and writers, and helping resolve website or publishing issues.
Working across social media and websites improved my understanding of how different digital departments depend on one another.
Content writers, graphic designers, SEO specialists, publishers, and website designers all contribute to the final result. Progress can slow down when one team does not have the information or resources it needs. Clear communication therefore became as important as technical execution.
I am grateful to the colleagues who helped me learn during this stage and trusted me to support their work.
Developing My Website Design Experience
Website design gradually became one of my main areas of responsibility.
I worked on service pages, listicles, landing pages, content updates, website sections, and redesign assignments across Pearl Lemon’s digital portfolio.
This experience allowed me to strengthen my practical knowledge of:
- WordPress
- Elementor
- Page structure
- Responsive design
- Content presentation
- Website publishing
- Visual consistency
- Basic search optimisation considerations
- User experience
- Design and content coordination
I also learned how to interpret a brief, request missing information, follow up with the appropriate department, report progress, and revise work after receiving feedback.
Rather than treating each page as an isolated design task, I began understanding how website design connects with content, search visibility, brand presentation, and business objectives.
Working Across Exact-Match-Domain Projects
As my role developed, I became increasingly involved with exact-match-domain, or EMD, website projects.
These projects gave me experience working across niche websites with different audiences, commercial purposes, content requirements, and visual identities.
My work included website design, page creation, publishing, domain-related coordination, updates, quality checking, and communication with content and SEO team members.
I contributed to work across websites including:
- PearlLemonSales.com
- AfternoonTeaInLDN.co.uk
- TheLeadGenerationAgency.uk
- RealEstatePropertyManagement.co.uk
- VetsLetsTravel.co.uk
- LEMProposal.com
- PearlLemonPPC.com
- PetsLetsTravel.com
- PearlLemonLeads.com
- PearlLemonLeadsUSA.com
- PearlLemonJets.com
- PearlLemonPPC.ca
- PearlLemonProperties.com
My precise contribution varied by website. Depending on the assignment, I supported page design, redesign work, publishing, content presentation, updates, or coordination with other team members.
Working across multiple websites taught me how to adapt a process to different industries while maintaining consistent delivery standards.
Progressing to Sub Head of EMD Web Design
Over time, I moved beyond completing individual website assignments and took on greater responsibility within the EMD web design operation.
My final documented role was:
Sub Head of EMD Web Design
In this role, I supported the coordination of website assignments, monitored progress, assisted team members, helped resolve delivery issues, and communicated with other departments when projects required content, graphics, SEO input, or technical assistance.
The role gave me practical experience in:
- Coordinating website assignments
- Supporting and guiding team members
- Reviewing work and identifying problems
- Following up on missing project requirements
- Communicating across departments
- Managing priorities and deadlines
- Maintaining progress updates
- Helping new or less-experienced team members
- Balancing design quality with delivery speed
One of the most important lessons I learned was that leadership is not simply about assigning tasks. It is about making sure people have the information, support, and clarity they need to complete their work.
This responsibility helped me develop from an individual contributor into someone who could support both project delivery and team coordination.
Team Management and Cross-Department Collaboration
Pearl Lemon operates through teams with different specialisations. Website projects frequently required coordination between design, content, publishing, SEO, graphics, management, and technical support.
I learned to communicate early when something was missing rather than waiting until a deadline was affected.
If content had not been delivered, I contacted the relevant team. If an image or technical element was missing, I followed up with the responsible person. If a team member was uncertain about a template or publishing process, I tried to guide them through it.
These experiences taught me that many delivery problems are not caused by a lack of effort. They are caused by unclear ownership, incomplete information, inconsistent follow-up, or disconnected workflows.
The opportunity to work across departments was one of the most valuable parts of my Pearl Lemon experience.
Expanding My Skills into AI Automation
In January 2025, I began formally learning AI automation through a structured course.
As part of this learning period, I completed several early practical projects under the guidance of Ali Yasin. These projects allowed me to apply what I was learning and share some of my initial work with the Pearl Lemon team.
During this stage, I explored tools and platforms such as:
- n8n
- Make
- ChatGPT
- Gemini
- Perplexity
- AI-assisted creative tools
My early projects explored how AI and automation could assist with activities such as customer support, website workflows, information access, and repetitive digital tasks.
This was primarily a period of learning, experimentation, and practical skill development. It should not be interpreted as a formal operational AI automation role within Pearl Lemon or as proof that every experimental project was deployed across the company.
The experience nevertheless helped me understand an important principle: automation creates value only when it addresses a genuine workflow problem and remains practical for the people expected to use it.
This learning later influenced how I approached the relationship between websites, digital operations, team workflows, and business growth.
What Pearl Lemon Helped Me Develop
Pearl Lemon gave me practical exposure to several areas that shaped my professional development.
Website and Digital Execution
I developed hands-on experience with WordPress design, content publishing, service pages, listicles, website updates, and digital project delivery.
Communication
Daily reporting and cross-department work taught me to communicate progress, explain problems, ask clearer questions, and keep the appropriate people informed.
Teamwork
I learned how designers, content writers, publishers, SEO specialists, and managers contribute to a shared outcome.
Responsibility
As my role expanded, I became responsible not only for completing my own assignments but also for supporting colleagues and helping work move forward.
Leadership
The Sub Head role introduced me to team coordination, guidance, quality review, prioritisation, and delivery management.
AI and Automation
My automation work helped me understand that technology creates value only when it supports a real process and is usable by the people involved.
Adaptability
Working across multiple brands, websites, and departments required me to adapt quickly while continuing to learn.
A Supportive Environment for Professional Growth
I appreciate Pearl Lemon for providing an environment where people could learn through responsibility.
The company gave me exposure to different departments, digital projects, tools, and working methods. I was encouraged to solve problems, improve my skills, ask questions, and contribute beyond my original assignments.
Remote work also helped me develop discipline and personal accountability. Start-of-day and end-of-day reporting created a clear structure for planning tasks, documenting progress, and identifying blockers.
Most importantly, I had the opportunity to work with colleagues who shared their knowledge and offered honest feedback.
Their support played a meaningful role in my progression.
Testimonials from Pearl Lemon Colleagues
The following feedback was provided by people who worked with me during my time at Pearl Lemon Group.
Usman Jatoi – Head of Web Designer & Content Publishing
“I have been working with Hussain for more than two and a half months, and I am very impressed with his work. He has greatly assisted me with multi-tasking, which includes various tasks assigned to me such as working on websites, handling social media tasks, conducting research, or any other work. I assign these tasks to Hussain, and he completes them efficiently and returns them promptly, which I appreciate very much. Overall, I am very pleased with Hussain and his work.”
Usman later highlighted my communication, reliability, willingness to receive constructive criticism, and habit of following up with other departments when an assignment depended on missing content, images, or technical support.
“Hi, I’m Usman Jatoi. I’m a Head of Website Design at Pearl Lemon. So here’s my review about Hussain. When I look at the most talented and precious member in my department, I look at Hussain first, and then the rest of the team members come in. Yes, of course, but right now, currently two members are top performers. First is Hussain, and second is actually Aamir. The beautiful thing about Hussain is that he is dedicated to his work. He always notifies me. He always updates stuff. What’s going on? What’s happening? What issue is he actually facing? And he tries to connect with people instead of saying, Hey, I just chatted with that guy. He didn’t reply to me, and I didn’t ask him again. He’s not that type of guy. And even someone actually is tagging him in the groups or asking him to get that stuff done, he actually gets that stuff done, if there’s no any technical and development side or any other issues or some stuff coming from other people. But yeah, if that is only on him, he gets that stuff done. And he’s always open to criticism and constructive criticism. He’s really polite and nice, and he don’t unwantedly deny any stuff, and he listens to your stuff. He don’t put his rules on you. You just post and working with Hussain is very simple. You assign him some tasks. He asks you some questions or required documents. You provide that. He gets that done, and he updates you. But if there’s any issue coming up from other side, let’s say someone, the content is pending, images pending, and technical stuff is pending, he connect with those people and tell them, Hey, I need that stuff. And when they provide him, they actually get that stuff done. So with the help of Hussain, you see there’s a lot and lot and lot benefits we are getting. And I don’t think so I can get a better person from Hussain in terms of working and understanding and applied in working and dedicated to his work. So yeah, that’s my testimony about Hussain. Thank you.”

Team-Oriented: Always approachable and willing to support others, Hussain adds real value to the team through his cooperative and professional attitude. Communication: He keeps colleagues updated, shares progress openly, and clarifies doubts early, which makes collaboration simple and effective. Needs Improvement: Showcasing Work: Hussain could share more of his design process and outcomes with the wider team to inspire and guide others. Managing & Delegation: At times, he takes on too much himself. Delegating smaller tasks and managing priorities could give him more space for higher-level creative challenges. Exploring Tools: Experimenting with new design tools and approaches could help him push his already strong work even further.”
Habiba – Head of AI Content Writing
“Hi, I’m Habiba, and I’d like to share my thoughts on Hussain. As a Head of Content, I work closely with various teams, and Hussain is always one of the easiest and most reliable people to collaborate with. In my role, I often find myself liaising between design and content, and Hussain makes that process incredibly smooth. One of the things I really appreciate about Hussain is his proactive communication. Whenever he’s working on a new site or page, he always makes sure to reach out early. He doesn’t leave me guessing about what’s needed for key pages like the homepage, ‘About Us,’ or any of the major sections. His messages are always clear and precise—whether he’s asking for content or offering an update on his progress. This makes it so much easier for me to plan and ensure the right content is ready when he needs it. Hussain is also incredibly diligent when it comes to making sure the design and content align seamlessly. Whether it’s ensuring that the ‘Meet Our Team’ page is visually appealing or updating a section with new content, he’ll reach out immediately, which helps me stay on top of things. One of the best aspects of working with Hussain is how he takes responsibility for his work. If there’s ever a delay—say, due to missing content or an external issue—he doesn’t just wait. He actively communicates with the team and makes sure everything moves forward. It’s rare to find someone so invested in ensuring that projects are completed successfully, even when there are obstacles outside of his control. However, like anyone, there are always opportunities for growth. One area where I believe Hussain could improve is balancing his meticulous attention to design details with a more rapid workflow. Sometimes, his focus on perfecting the finer aspects can extend the timeline a bit, but I have no doubt that as he continues to work on this, his ability to manage both quality and efficiency will only improve. Overall, Hussain is a valuable team member who consistently delivers high-quality work and makes sure everything aligns with the broader goals of the team. His dedication, communication, and work ethic make him a pleasure to collaborate with, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside him on future projects.”

Hussain is not only skilled in website design and social media but also very patient and supportive. He always takes the time to help others, share tips, and show the best way to do things. His guidance has helped me improve my own skills and become more confident in my work. He is hardworking, reliable, and always willing to help the team. I truly appreciate Hussain’s support and dedication. Any team would be lucky to have him.”

Advice for Future Pearl Lemon Interns
My advice to someone beginning an internship at Pearl Lemon would be simple:
Communicate Clearly
Do not wait until a deadline to report a problem. Explain what is missing, who you have contacted, and what is required to move forward.
Take Responsibility
Focus on completing the outcome, not merely your part of the task. If another department is needed, communicate with them respectfully.
Learn from Feedback
Constructive criticism is valuable. Listen carefully, make the correction, and use the lesson in future assignments.
Help Your Team
Share what you know. A team becomes more effective when people help one another solve problems.
Stay Consistent
Professional growth usually comes from completing ordinary responsibilities consistently, not from waiting for one extraordinary opportunity.
Understand the Full Process
Learn what happens before and after your task. This will help you understand how your work contributes to the company’s larger objectives.
Concluding My Time at Pearl Lemon
My documented employment with Pearl Lemon concluded on 31 May 2026, followed by my formal farewell to the team on 2 June 2026.
Leaving the company gave me an opportunity to reflect on how much had changed since my first website design assignment in March 2024.
I began with practical social media, publishing, and website work. I later expanded into exact-match-domain projects, team coordination, departmental responsibility, and AI automation.
Each stage contributed to my professional development.
After Pearl Lemon, I began applying these cross-functional lessons through HussainJatoi.com, where my work focuses on connecting websites, visibility, conversion, automation, and operations into more complete business growth systems.
This next chapter does not replace what came before; it builds on the practical experience, professional relationships, and lessons I gained at Pearl Lemon.
Thank You, Pearl Lemon
I remain grateful to Pearl Lemon Group, Pearl Lemon Placements, Deepak Shukla, Usman Jatoi, the HR team, my managers, and every colleague who supported my development.
Pearl Lemon gave me an opportunity to learn through real work, expand beyond my original responsibilities, collaborate across departments, experiment with new technology, and develop greater professional confidence.
The experience taught me that digital work creates better results when people, processes, communication, and technology work together.
Thank you to everyone at Pearl Lemon who contributed to this journey.
